The Poet Laureate Consultant to the Library of Congress was established in 1936, when Archer M Huntington endowed the Chair of Poetry at the LOC. The person chosen is an accomplished and celebrated writer who has gained recognition from their collection of published work. A good place to find good poetry is from the people who are considered the best. The best contemporary poets from 1936 onward can be found here in the following list of their names, with links to sample some of their work. http://poetry.about.com/od/poets/a/uslaureates.htm

If you find something you like, use the link below
to the LOC to find all published titles from that author and ISBN numbers, publishing dates, ect. To locate a title at the nearest library, go to the first page of this site to the link to Worldcat. To find the book to purchase (recommended, because poets have bills, too) either electronically (recommended, because trees help us breathe) or physically, go to the "buy books" section on the first page of this site.
