No, literally, you can't touch this. I mean finding poetry or poetry related articles in journals and magazines online. I'm talking about accessing poetry related journals, without getting in your car and driving to a university library or participating library system that can get into JSTOR. No, its not an online store for Nordic inspired clothing, or a new video game where you have to run and jump Mario brothers style through ancient Middle Eastern ruins to unlock the next level where you can fly drones with guided missiles, or something you have to hack into because it was only half-ass encrypted. JSTOR, as I found it, you know anyone can search it, is a self described non-profit academic resource. Well, you couldn't easily find this stuff anywhere else, and it is all in one place, and it includes any subject under the Sun and beyond our star, and you can't beat it because its archival, and you can't touch it because its virtual, meaning digital. OK, it was printed on paper at some point in time, but how would you know it was printed unless you printed it, or it was printed for you personally to read, or you happened to see a copy of it while you were at the dentist's office waiting to get your roots planed. And if it was printed and nobody read it, was it really printed, you know philosophically. And if that tree that fell that nobody heard fall was on youtube then we could end all the speculation. So that is what JSTOR is. It is the youtube of the tree that nobody heard fall. Now that we have got that straight, if you go there and the tree is lying there, well it's still not very helpful if you can't log in. If you find an article you would like to see, the JSTOR will let you window shop. But instead of ogling a full length Mohair coat, you are viewing the first page of the article you would like to read, or cite with full length citation given, usually, with the option to buy the article in all its glory for $19.99. Seriously, members only. If you are not affiliated with one of the affiliate institutions of higher yearning, no typo, you don't get to use the facilities, and you can forget about the pool, too. This is where I would close the page, or change the channel, or drive my virtual three month old Lexus outta here, or at least take a walk to the public water fountain to gather myself. Luckily, I have here an alternative to pay-per-view academia, are you still there?, recently added by JSTOR available to anyone. The catch is: it is limited to journals printed before 1922, but still a very nice resource.
