I'm sorry. Thank You. I appreciate it. Three and a half months of silence and just the sound of the wind blowing the saltgrass in the Blog Bog. OK, take one deep breath. Now, that feels good. Poetry will be awakened from its sleep, yes, this week in London at the Poetry Parnassus in London. Dubbed the "Festival of the World", words will be flying off the page as poets from around the world will converge to celebrate this oft put off art form by the general populace. Let's not forget that music borrows from the poets' treasury and marketing appropriates branding and the art of the slogan to bring attention and retention. But lets bury that hatchet for now. As London will host the best athletes in the Olympics, lets call this the Olympoets, where the best poets from around the world will, dare I say, compete. Compete for recognition and acceptance of their art. There will be performances and forums, a proverbial industry tradeshow of poetics. And why not? Generally, poetry is viewed as in decline; out of the pubic eye, and the art form that has been silenced and overshadowed by a generation that prefers Ipod and Youtube to actually reading something. This week is a good opportunity to get informed on the current state of poets and poetry, even if you cannot attend, the coverage on twitter feeds and exposure of these poets through facebook, blogs, and website links from this event can only be a good thing.
